Conferences on the Biology of Plethodontid Salamanders began at Highlands Biological Station in 1972. Originally, they were organized once every 10 years, but since 1998 they have been held more frequently, though at irregular intervals. Also since 1998, the meetings have recognized the career and contributions of a prominent scholar and researcher in the biology of plethodontid salamanders. Past recipients are listed below.
